Flora 2023 is an intriguing white wine from the Württemberg region of Germany, produced by Weingut Roterfaden. This natural wine is a blend of 80% Pinot Blanc and 20% Muscat, sourced from southeast-facing terraced vineyards with shell limestone soils.
In the glass, it presents a bright golden-yellow color with orange reflections and a slight cloudiness, indicative of its unfiltered nature. The nose is seductive, offering a harmonious blend of apple, almond, and cherry blossoms, accompanied by citrus notes of orange and bergamot, and accented by a hint of cinnamon and clove. On the palate, it is rich yet exhibits a tart acidity, with perfectly integrated bitterness and fine tannins. The fruity and fresh character leads to a medium-length finish, showcasing a balance of lightness and substance with subtle spicy notes.
With an alcohol content of 10%, Flora 2023 pairs excellently with delicate dishes such as buckwheat blinis with crème fraîche and salmon caviar, or couscous salad with turmeric, almonds, and dates. For optimal enjoyment, serve at a temperature of 10°C.
This wine reflects Roterfaden's commitment to biodynamic practices and minimal intervention winemaking. The grapes were foot-stomped and left on the skins for five days, then fermented in old wooden barrels and matured on full lees for nine months, resulting in a wine that authentically expresses its terroir and varietal characteristics.
