Sicily, 2022
VinoLauria today is based on cross-generational experience and combines family tradition with modern oenology. In the heart of Sicily, about 65km southwest of Palermo, the winery is located in the free community consortium of Trapani. The family business was founded in 1958 by Vito's grandfather, but was abandoned in 1993 due to economic difficulties. Vito Lauria, who is deeply rooted in his homeland, henceforth cherished the wish to revive the winery and to carry the vinophile heritage of his family into the future. Familiar with his grandfather's working methods from an early age, he decided to study viticulture and oenology.
The production of a dry Zibibbo is one of the last new additions to the company. Grown in the calcareous soils around Salemi, the grapes result in a dry, aromatic-floral wine. Harvested at the beginning of September, the Solerte Zibibbo Macerato has an extended mash life, also fermented in steel.
